WHAT ARE RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES USED FOR?
They are CE medical devices based on ready-to-use sterile saline solutions, indicated
for daily nasal hygiene, for the prevention of respiratory infections and obstructions
caused by phlegm stagnation, for the alleviation of respiratory difficulties due to
colds, coughs, sinusitis, otitis, asthma, bronchitis, rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, turbinates
hypertrophy, post-operative procedures, nasal polyposis, allergens, environmental
contamination such as dust, smoke, fumes, viruses and bacteria.
HOW MANY PRODUCTS DOES THE RHYNOGEN RANGE CONSIST OF?
The range currently consists of the following references: RHYNOGEN ISOTONIC, RHYNOGEN
HYPERTONIC, RHYNOGEN BABY, RHYNOGEN SPORT, RHYNOGEN PLUS.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN INDICATIONS OF EACH REFERENCE?
RHYNOGEN ISOTONIC: is indicated for the daily hygiene of the nose, for the prevention
of respiratory infections and obstructions caused by catarrh stagnation, and to relieve
respiratory difficulties due to colds, coughs, sinusitis, otitis, asthma and bronchitis.
RHYNOGEN HYPERTONIC is indicated as a natural decongestant of the nasal mucous
membranes and in respiratory difficulties due to allergic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis,
turbinate hypertrophy.
RHYNOGEN PLUS containing sodium hyaluronate saline solution is indicated in chronic
hypertrophic rhinopathies, atrophic rhinitis, after surgery and is only available on
prescription.
RHYNOGEN BABY is indicated for children from the age of 06 months for daily nose
hygiene and the prevention of respiratory infections and obstructions caused by
catarrh stagnation, to relieve respiratory difficulties due to colds, coughs, sinusitis,
otitis, asthma, bronchitis.
RHYNOGEN SPORT is suitable for daily nose hygiene, recommended before and after
physical activity for better breathing during sports performance.

No, it is not necessary, except for the reference RHYNOGEN PLUS which can only be
purchased with a doctor's prescription.
WHO CAN USE RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES?
They are indicated for infants, children and adults unless otherwise medically indicated.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES BE PERFORMED?
For adults 1 to 2 times a day unless otherwise medically indicated. For infants from
06 months from 1 to 2 applications per nostril per day (2-3ml). For children from 01
years 2 to 3 applications per nostril per day (3-5ml). In the event of severe congestion,
please contact your doctor before proceeding with treatment.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU FEEL BEEPING IN YOUR EARS OR SENSATION OF OCCLUSION
DURING THE NASAL WASH?
Stop the treatment immediately.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PERFORM NASAL WASHES WITH TAP WATER?
It is not recommended to use tap water for nasal washes because it is not filtered or
treated and may contain bacteria. Hazardous substances that may have negative
effects on health (for example PFAS perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl
substances) may also be present in the water.
IF A NOSEBLEED IS PRESENT CAN I PERFORM THE RHYNOGEN NASAL WASH?
If a nosebleed is in progress or has just ended, it should not be used.
WHAT HAPPENS IF SALINE SOLUTION FLOWS DOWN THE THROAT DURING TREATMENT?
Stop the irrigation treatment by expelling or swallowing, the saline solution if accidentally swallowed in small
doses is not toxic.
HOW CAN I BREAK THE FRACTURE CONE?
The fracture cone ensures the sterility of the saline solution contained within the bag so before use it is
necessary to break it to allow the solution to flow. The fracture cone is located at the mouth of the bag's
connector tube. In order to break the fracture cone, you must take the bag with two hands and press it gently
outwards to fracture it.
Caution! this should only be done when the infusion set has been properly assembled, making sure that the flow
wheel has completely occluded the delivery tube, otherwise the saline solution will start to flow outwards.
HOW SHOULD RHYNOGEN NASAL LAVAGE BE PERFORMED CORRECTLY?
During treatment, the head should be held forward lower than the shoulders, breathing through the open mouth.
CAN THE SAME NASAL WASH BE PERFORMED BY MORE THAN ONE PERSON?
No. The wash is single-use and single-patient.
HOW SHOULD RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES BE STORED?
They should be stored at a temperature between +5° and +35° away from direct sunlight and from heat sources.
WHEN SHOULD RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES NOT BE USED?
The product should not be used in case of specific hypersensitivity to any component, after the expiry date or
if the device is damaged.
CAN THE SOLUTION BE STORED ONCE OPENED?
No, the solution should be used completely and immediately after opening.
ARE OTHER USES OF RHYNOGEN NASAL WASHES PERMITTED?
No, the product is for external use only and the instructions in the package insert must be strictly observed.
HOW SHOULD RHYNOGEN ISOTONIC - HYPERTONIC - PLUS NASAL WASHES BE USED?
1) Warm the bag of saline solution by immersing it in warm water to a temperature of approx. 37°.
2) Attach the suction cup, contained inside the packet, to a smooth surface above the basin.
3) Unscrew the protective cap from the bag and connect the irrigation kit contained in the sealed bag by
screwing it onto the bag.
4) Lower the flow adjustment wheel until the tubing is completely occluded.
5) Break the fracture cone located inside the connecting tube of the saline bag.
6) Hang the bag from the suction cup previously attached to a smooth surface.
7) Tilt the head forward on the basin, in a position lower than your shoulders.
8) Bring the irrigation nozzle to the nose, making it gently adhere to the nostril.
9) Raise the wheel on the tube to adjust the flow of the spray and allow the saline solution to flow gently,
avoiding it going down the throat; breathe through your open mouth during treatment.
10) About mid-treatment, repeat the operation in the other nostril.
HOW SHOULD RHYNOGEN BABY NASAL WASHES BE USED?
1) Warm the bag of saline solution by immersing it in warm water to a temperature of approx. 37°.
2) Unscrew the protective cap from the bag and open the packaging containing the irrigation nozzle and syringe,
screw the syringe on to the bag connector.
3) Break the fracture cone located inside the bag connector tube
4) Draw the saline solution from the bag to fill the syringe
5) Screw the irrigator nozzle onto the syringe, apply light pressure to the piston to check the intensity of the
flow.
6) Bring the irrigator nozzle to the nose, making it adhere to the nostril, and gently irrigate the nasal
cavity, keeping the mouth open until the solution flows out of the other cavity. In infants, due to the
difficulty in keeping the mouth open, it is recommended to keep the head turned to the side and lower than the
shoulders. It is advisable to blow the nose after the treatment.
7) Repeat the treatment in the other cavity, positioning the child on the other side.
HOW SHOULD RHYNOGEN SPORT NASAL WASHES BE USED?
1) Warm the bag of saline solution by immersing it in warm water to a temperature of approx. 37°.
2) Unscrew the protective cap from the bag and open the packaging containing the irrigation nozzle and syringe,
screw the syringe on to the bag connector.
3) Break the fracture cone located inside the bag connector tube
4) Draw the saline solution from the bag until the syringe is filled
5) Screw the irrigation nozzle onto the syringe, apply light pressure on the plunger to check the intensity of
the flow.
6) Tilt the head forward on the basin, in a position lower than the shoulders
7) Bring the irrigating nozzle to the nose, making it adhere to the nostril and gently irrigate the nasal cavity
until the solution flows out of the other cavity, breathe through the open mouth throughout the treatment. It is
advisable to blow your nose after the treatment.
8) Repeat the treatment in the other nasal cavity through the open mouth.
